INTRODUCTION TO BBTRS®

Biodynamic Breathwork & Trauma Release System® (BBTRS®) is a somatic methodology designed to safely release chronic tension, expand emotional capacity, and support trauma resolution through the intelligence of the body.

BBTRS® integrates breath, movement, sound, touch, conscious emotional expression, and meditation to help the nervous system regulate, unwind stored patterns, and return to a state of flow, presence, and vitality.

The BBTRS® Training Retreat weaves together theory, embodied experience, and hands-on facilitation practice.
It is both a core module within the BBTRS® Certification Pathway, and a deep personal transformation journey, even for those not pursuing certification.

Accredited & Trusted Worldwide

Recognized by leading bodies in breathwork and trauma-informed education.

Because true transformation comes from embodied experience, not theory alone.

Because the world needs facilitators who can create safety, pace activation, and work ethically with the nervous system.

Because personal healing and professional skill develop best together, not separately.

Whether you are here for personal growth or professional development, BBTRS® offers tools you will carry for life.

In this training, you will learn how to:

  • Understand trauma through a somatic, nervous-system based perspective
  • Facilitate breathwork safely without overwhelming or retraumatizing clients
  • Build confidence in pacing, titration, pendulation and co-regulation
  • Access deeper emotional release and integration in your own body
  • Strengthen presence, attunement and healthy practitioner boundaries
  • Expand your window of tolerance and embodied resilience
  • Guide a complete BBTRS® session with clarity and skill
  • Connect with a global community of practitioners and seekers

WHY PARTICIPATE

in this training?

Who it's for

This Training is for people who want a grounded, ethical and powerful approach to trauma-informed breathwork. It is designed for anyone called to work compassionately with breath, body and trauma, whether you are already a practitioner or just beginning your path.

No previous experience is required. What matters is willingness to feel, learn and grow.

This retreat is especially aligned for:

  • Psychologists, therapists, and counselors integrating somatic tools
  • Coaches, guides, and facilitators seeking a nervous-system-informed method
  • Somatic, movement, and body-based practitioners
  • Breathworkers expanding into trauma-informed practice
  • Yoga and meditation teachers deepening emotional holding capacity
  • Bodyworkers exploring nervous-system-based approaches
  • BBTRS® students already on the Certification Pathway, completing a required in-person module
  • Individuals on a personal healing journey, whether or not they plan to pursue certification

This retreat may not be the right fit if you are seeking peak-state experiences, rapid catharsis or performance-style breathwork. BBTRS® prioritizes pacing, consent, presence and integration over intensity.

If you are on the certification pathway, this Training Retreat counts toward your required In-Person Retreats.

What you'll learn

This training gives you a solid foundation in trauma-informed facilitation, blending theory with embodied practice so you can guide others with clarity, confidence and integrity.

You will learn not only what to do, but why and when to do it, leaving with a complete method rather than isolated techniques.

You will learn to:

  • Understand the core principles of trauma physiology and nervous-system based healing
  • Work skillfully with fight, flight, freeze and collapse states
  • Guide emotional release in a safe, grounded and paced way
  • Cultivate presence, attunement and healthy practitioner boundaries
  • Recognize and work with patterns held in the body, including the Seven Belts of Tension and developmental themes
  • Follow and facilitate the complete BBTRS® session structure
  • Support clients without force, pressure or overwhelm
  • Use ethical and trauma-informed communication
  • Explain the method simply and confidently to clients
  • Practice hands-on facilitation with demos, exchanges, feedback and supervised sessions
  • Apply the Six Elements framework effectively in sessions

By the end of the Training, you’ll have a stronger foundation in trauma-informed facilitation, including pacing, consent, regulation, and supervised practice you can integrate into your work and personal process.

What you will experience

Throughout these 10 days, you will move through a deep, structured and supportive process designed to open the body, support emotional flow and expand your capacity to feel and integrate. You will experience:

  • Daily breathwork journeys
  • Emotional release practices
  • Partner and group sessions
  • Movement and embodiment exercises
  • Nervous system regulation tools
  • Touch and bodywork techniques
  • Conscious emotional expression
  • Meditation and integration

The training is designed to help your body unwind, open and reorganize from inside out.

For those longing to breathe more freely, to soften old patterns and to meet themselves with honesty and depth, this training offers a truly embodied path of transformation. It brings together personal healing, trauma-informed facilitation and a supportive community committed to presence, integrity and real integration.

The 6 elements of BBTRS®

Developed by Giten Tonkov, Biodynamic Breathwork & Trauma Release System® is a body-oriented modality rooted in trauma physiology, somatic psychology and conscious breathwork. The six elements form one integrated system, intentionally woven together to create a safe, regulated and effective session flow. Not all elements are used simultaneously, but each plays a specific role at different stages to support trauma release and integration within the nervous system’s window of tolerance.

Breath is the primary gateway to awareness and regulation. It gently activates sensation, mobilizes stored energy and supports emotional release without force. Through conscious, connected breathing, the body feels safe enough to soften, expand and reveal what has been held beneath the surface.

Breath

Movement supports the natural discharge of held tension and restores rhythm and vitality in the body. Subtle waves, micro-movements and organic impulses unlock both deep and superficial muscular patterns, allowing energy to flow freely through the spine, fascia and joints.

Movement

Attuned, consensual touch provides grounding, containment and a sense of safety. Through supportive contact, attention is guided toward areas of stability, allowing the nervous system to release tension gently through pendulation rather than overwhelm.

Touch

Sound gives voice to what has been held in silence. Vocal expression, toning, music and vibration help loosen frozen tissues and support release on a cellular level. Sound reconnects breath, body and expression, supporting both discharge and integration.

Sound

Emotions are energy in motion. When expressed with awareness and presence, they move through the body without collapse or overactivation. This element supports authentic release while maintaining regulation, allowing emotions to integrate rather than re-enact trauma patterns.

Emotions

Meditation completes the process. It supports integration, nervous system settling and embodied awareness after deep work. Through meditation, insight arises naturally and the body reorganizes from a place of presence, clarity and inner grounding.

BBTRS® Training Retreat

One Journey, with a Gentle Entry Point

The BBTRS® Training Retreat is a 10-day immersive professional training in trauma-informed breathwork, designed to support deep personal healing while building real facilitation skills grounded in safety, pacing and nervous system regulation.

The retreat begins with two introductory days, intentionally designed as a gentle, embodied entry into the work. These days are part of the Training Retreat and set the foundation for everything that follows.

This is one coherent journey, not separate programs.

The Gentle Entry: Introduction Days

September 5-6

The first two days offer a gentle and supported entry into the BBTRS® method. You will experience the Six Elements in a paced, non-cathartic way, building safety, presence and felt sense in the body, while learning how activation is regulated rather than pushed. This introduction is ideal if you are new to BBTRS®, curious to feel the work in your own body, or drawn to a gradual, consent-led approach.

If you are not yet certain about continuing, you may join the first two days only and decide from there whether to continue into the full Training Retreat.

No. The training is open to complete beginners as well as experienced practitioners. Everything is taught step by step, and all sessions are guided safely. What matters most is openness and willingness to engage in the process.

I’ve never done anything like this. Can I still join?

Absolutely. Many participants come without any previous somatic or therapeutic background. The training is designed to meet you where you are and support you physically, emotionally and energetically throughout the entire process.

Is this a professional certification?

The BBTRS® Training Retreat in Brazil is a professional in-person training that counts toward the official BBTRS® Certification Pathway, but it does not constitute a full certification on its own.

To become a Certified BBTRS® Practitioner, participants must complete:
. the BBTRS® Online Practitioner Certification, and
. three BBTRS® In-Person Training Retreats (this retreat can count as one of them),
as part of the Advanced Practitioner Certification Pathway.

This retreat represents a significant step in the training journey, offering a solid foundation in trauma-informed facilitation, supervised practice, and embodied integration, supporting both professional development and personal healing.

Will I be a Certified BBTRS® Practitioner after these 10 days?

No. This Training Retreat is a major step and can count toward the pathway, but certification requires the online certification plus three Training Retreats.

Will I learn to facilitate sessions?

Yes, you will learn facilitation skills and practice in a supervised environment, with a strong focus on safety, consent and nervous-system pacing. Certification to practice as a BBTRS® Practitioner requires completing the full pathway.

Is the training intense?

It is deep and transformative, but always paced safely. You will be supported by experienced facilitators, clear structure and a strong emphasis on nervous system regulation and grounding. The goal is not to overwhelm, but to open gently and consciously.

How many participants can attend?

Spaces are limited to maintain safety, intimacy and high-quality facilitation. We recommend joining the waitlist to secure early access once registration opens. There is no application, but some basic information will be required during registration.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. Payment facilities will be available during the registration process, including installment options to make participation more accessible.

Is accommodation included?

Accommodation and meals at Osheanic International will be paid separately upon arrival.

Can I join only the training or only the introduction weekend?

Yes. You may join only the introduction weekend (September 5–6). If you prefer to wait before committing to the full training, you can decide at the end of the weekend whether you want to continue into the BBTRS® Training module.

In which language will the training be held?

The training will be taught in English. Portuguese interpretation may be offered depending on the needs of the group.

When should I arrive at the venue?

We recommend arriving on September 4th, one day before the program begins, so you can settle in and start the journey rested and grounded. This option is available for an additional fee. If you're interested, please let us know in advance so we can make the necessary arrangements.

Is it possible to arrive earlier than September 4th?

If you wish to arrive earlier, please contact Osheanic directly. Early arrival may be possible depending on room availability and additional accommodation fees.

Can I stay outside the retreat venue?

For the safety of the process and the integrity of the group field, all participants are required to stay on-site at Osheanic International for the full duration of the program.

What happens if I need to cancel my registration?

– Cancellations made more than 30 days in advance are eligible for a refund, with a deduction of 200 euros per participant for administrative costs and payment fees. Transfers of payment to another date are not permitted.
– Cancellations made less than 30 days in advance or withdrawals after the start of the retreat are not eligible for a refund.
